With the Quintsonic 7, Elektrophysik presents a new development in the market for mobile coating thickness gauges. It enables users to do without a measuring device altogether. The new Quintsonic tablet is directly connected to the sensor and enables the convenient recording of up to eight polymer layers on metal, plastic, wood, glass and ceramics, but also on components made of GRP or CFRP in a single measuring process. The intelligent sensor, which contains all the measuring electronics, is connected to the industrial tablet by cable. According to the manufacturer, one of the strengths and advantages of the tablet (protection class IP67), which is also suitable for rough field applications, is the direct display of colour A-scans on the 10" display without having to transfer the measurement data to a PC first. This is an advantage especially for users who work with the A-scan during the measurement, for example to define evaluation areas. The measuring principle based on the reflection of ultrasonic waves is tried and tested and has proven itself even for the most demanding applications in the automotive industry and in aircraft construction, according to the supplier.
