Since 1 January 2019, Stefan Schaal has been the new technical managing director of Mafac and manages the company together with Rainer Schwarz. The 37-year-old mechanical engineer succeeds Joachim Schwarz, who has so far managed the family business founded 50 years ago alongside his brother Rainer Schwarz. Stefan Schaal has been with Mafac since 2008, most recently as head of design and development and member of the management board. In his new position as technical managing director, he is responsible for product and machine development as well as for the production and optimization of processes. After 35 years, Joachim Schwarz retires from the operative business and remains a shareholder of the company. In this function he will focus in future on strategic and sustainable corporate development as well as strategic advance development and innovation of new products and processes.
