The real estate company Magom Properties has commissioned Designworks, the innovation studio of the BMW Group, to design the exterior facade of the 230 m high Forbes International Tower in Egypt so that it can be experienced emotionally. The tower is set to become a milestone in sustainable urban development in the Middle East. The concept of the architects Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill is a novel symbiosis of architecture and environment. In line with this idea, the façade, designed by Designworks using reflection, illumination, and digital interaction, is intended to create a harmonious connection between the building, the environment, and the visitor.

The studio is using the BMW Group’s experience design process to develop the e-vehicle charging park, which will be part of an end-to-end customer experience across all physical and digital touchpoints. The 55-storey business tower, designed in partnership with Forbes, will be part of Cairo’s new administrative and financial district. With a total area of more than 100,000 m2, it will set a new standard for environmentally friendly architecture. The overarching goals are CO2 minimization and the highest certifications for ecological construction. Holger Hampf, Head of Designworks, points out the importance of sustainability within the BMW Group and the contribution that good design can make to changing people’s attitudes and behavior and promoting responsible action. The tower is scheduled for completion in 2027. Further commercial buildings of this type are planned in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
