The global demand for paints and coatings has resumed growth in the third quarter of 2020. On a volume basis, the demand grew by +1 % in Q3, in year-over-year comparison. This also represents a +9 % recovery from the previous quarter (Q2-2020). Growth is primarily supported by the building sector, where the decorative paint consumption expanded by 6.5 % in terms of volume. This is owed to a large extent to the strong sales of DIY products in Europe and North America. On the other hand, the industrial coating demand volume is down by 6.5% compared to 2019. The moderate industrial demand recovery from the COVID-19 crisis is expected to last through 2021.
