The European paint and coating production recovery recorded in May held on in June. In Germany, the index rose to 84 points and again improved only slightly. This represents an increase of +2.8 % over the previous month and a decrease of -10 % over the previous year. In comparison, the EU27 economic area production rose significantly to 93.3 points. This represents an increase of +5.1 % over the previous month yet a decrease of -8.4 % over the previous year. In the first half of 2020 the production of paints and coatings fell in Germany by +7.5 % compared to the previous year. (EU27 -9.7 %). Second quarter loss in Germany was year-over-year was -13.5 %. For the EU27 economic area second quarter loss year-over-year was -17.1 %.
