Effective October 5, 2018, Dürr completed the acquisition of the industrial environmental technology division of the US company Babcock & Wilcox (B&W). The takeover will create a leading international supplier of air pollution control and noise protection technologies, offering companies in all industries worldwide a broad spectrum of solutions for compliance with stricter emission regulations. For Dürr, the acquisition of the two environmental technology specialists Megtec and Universal means a significant expansion of its environmental technology division CTS (Clean Technology Systems). Megtec adds air pollution control technologies such as wet and dry separators, fabric filters and solvent recovery systems, as well as industrial dryers and electrode coating systems for lithium-ion batteries. Universal is a provider of acoustic solutions specializing in sound insulation systems and air filters that expands the CTS environmental division's portfolio to include noise protection solutions. The acquisition expands the company's business activities in Europe and North America. Dürr also sees great market potential in China, India, Southeast Asia and South America. The worldwide branches of the interlinked business units are intended to offer customers better local service and shorter response times.
