The surface treatment business unit of BASF's coatings division, which operates under the Chemetall brand, is expanding its production site in the town of Langelsheim in the German state of Lower Saxony. The aim is to increase the plant’s capacity for producing aircraft sealants. New laboratory and office space will also be created as part of the expansion. The ground-breaking ceremony is scheduled for March 2018. As well as expanding its production capacity for aircraft sealants, Chemetall will construct a modern laboratory and office building. The work is expected to be completed in 2019. Aircraft sealing compounds, anti-corrosion agents, cleaning products and other chemicals used for the surface treatment of metals are all produced in Langelsheim.
