ABB has appointed Jörg Reger as head of the Auto OEM global business line of its robotics division. The 54-year-old succeeds Michael Larsson, who is leaving ABB to pursue new professional challenges. In parallel to his new role, Reger will continue in his current role as head of the robotics division for Germany. One of the core tasks in his new position will be to further expand ABB's robotics portfolio for automotive customers, especially in light of the ever-growing production of electric vehicles and the increasing shortage of skilled workers. This includes technologies that help manufacturers to produce efficiently, flexibly and individually, as well as to further advance automation in previously very labour-intensive production areas. Reger started his career at ABB in 1994 in the Power Systems division. This was followed by various management positions within the company, including Head of Robotics and Drive Technology Germany, Head of Service and Key Account Management Robotics Germany and Head of the Paint Systems business unit for Europe. Before joining ABB, he worked as an international project manager at Lurgi AG in Frankfurt am Main. Since 2014, Reger has been a board member of the robotics department at the German Engineering Federation (VDMA).
