Busch AG was founded in Switzerland 50 years ago. The anniversary celebration was attended not only by employees and their families, but also by Sami and Kaya Busch, co-CEOs and co-owners of the Busch Group.
Max Zulauf Wyss was the first managing director of the company, which was established in Binningen, Switzerland, in 1974. In the early 1980s, the company moved within the country to Muttenz. Under the leadership of Hans Steybe, the Busch building in Magden, Switzerland, was constructed and the company moved into the new building in April 1993. In the same year, Dr. Karl Busch presented the Cobra vacuum pump, which was put into operation for the first time at the Swiss pharmaceutical manufacturer Lonza – a highlight in the history of the company. Another milestone was the use of the first Cobra NC vacuum pumps in steel degassing in 2002.
Under the leadership of Christian Muser, CEO of the group since May 2005, the next important step in the company’s history is now imminent. The joint Swiss sales, system construction and service center for Busch and Pfeiffer is being built in Sisseln in the canton of Aargau, Switzerland. The new building is scheduled to be finalized in October 2025. The move-in date for Busch AG employees is planned for January 2, 2026. On March 1, 2026, the colleagues from Pfeiffer Switzerland are to follow, so that both Swiss partner companies will then work together under one roof.
“We look forward to growing together as a company and further expanding our leading position in the Swiss market,” says Muser. ”The new building will enable us to grow, particularly in the service and system construction sectors, and offer our customers outstanding vacuum solutions from just one provider.”
