Axalta opens Philadelphia Coatings Research and Development Center

Axalta celebrated the official opening of its Global Innovation Center, the world's largest research and development center for coatings, on November 7. The 16,000 m2 Global Innovation Center offers modern specialist laboratories and offices. Located in Philadelphia's historic Navy Yard, it is designed to strengthen collaboration between Axalta employees, business partners and customers in the greater Philadelphia area and beyond. Barry Snyder, Axalta's Chief Technology Officer: "Axalta's team of scientists and engineers at the Global Innovation Center develops next-generation paint products and keeps pace with future application requirements. Both regulations and changing customer needs require modern, technically advanced coatings. New paint formulations are also needed as a result of the increased use of lightweight plastics and composites to reduce vehicle fuel consumption. Developing products that meet these and other needs is the goal of the Global Innovation Center and Axalta's global research and development network."
